Addresses Must Match - Sole Proprietor
For a PatriotBuySell business account as a Sole Proprietor, the address you provide during registration must match the documentation you use to verify your identity, but there is some nuance depending on which address you are referring to.
PatriotBuySell generally deals with 2 types of addresses during the verification of a sole proprietorship:
1. Your Residential Address (Identity Verification)
This is where PatriotBuySell verifies you as the individual owner.
Must Match: This address should match your government-issued ID (Driver's License, Passport, or Residence Permit) and your Social Security records.
Why: PatriotBuySell uses automated systems to match your name, DOB, and address against credit bureaus or government databases. If your ID says "123 Main St" but you enter "456 Oak Ave," the automated check will fail, and you will be asked to upload manual proof of residency (like a utility bill).
2. Your Business Address (Entity Verification)
As a sole proprietor, your business address and residential address are often the same, but they don't have to be.
If you use a separate business address: This address must match your business documents, such as your IRS SS-4 (EIN) letter, a business license, or a bank statement.
The Golden Rule: The information you enter on PatriotBuySell must match the bank account you link for payouts. If your business bank statement shows your home address, use your home address.
What to do if they don't match?
If your current residence is different from the address listed on your ID (e.g., you moved but haven't updated your license yet):
1. Try to match the ID first: Many sellers find the process smoother if they use the address on their ID for the initial "Personal Information" section.
2. Use a Utility Bill: If you use your current (non-ID) address, be prepared for PatriotBuySell to put a "payout hold" on your account. You will then need to upload a high-quality color scan of a utility bill or bank statement from the last 3–6 months that shows your name and current address.
3. No P.O. Boxes: PatriotBuySell typically requires a physical street address for the "Legal Residence" or "Registration" field. You can usually add a P.O. Box later for "Shipping From" or "Returns," but not for the legal entity verification.
Summary Checklist for Sole Proprietors:
| Requirement | Must Match |
|---|---|
| Legal Name | Must match your ID and Bank Account exactly. |
| Residential Address | Should match your ID (or be backed by a utility bill). |
| Business Address | Must match your IRS/EIN letter or Business License. |
| Bank Account | Must be in your name (or your DBA name) and show the same address. |
Important Note: PatriotBuySell's verification system is very sensitive to formatting. If your bank statement says "Apt 4B" and your PatriotBuySell account says "Unit 4-B," it can occasionally trigger a manual review. Try to type it exactly as it appears on your official documents.
